WARSAW — Six youth presented sheep, goats, calves and rabbits at the third annual Poss-ABILITIES Showcase at the Kosciusko County Fair Wednesday, July 11.
The goal of the program is to make interactions with livestock available to youth of all abilities. While in the program, each participant worked closely with a mentor family to learn more about 4-H and showing animals.
Rabbits and calves were new additions to the showcase this year.
The showcase began with Skylar Payton presenting a lamb. Payton has participated in every annual Poss-ABILITIES Showcase. Her mentor was Jordyn Leininger. Leininger said that Poss-ABILITIES has shown her that no matter what or how many challenges one may face, they can be overcome with hard work.
Hannah Kohler and Ruby Mock presented goats. Both are returning participants from last year.
Kohler is a member of the Beaver Dam 4-H club. Her favorite part of Poss-ABILITIES was spending time with her mentor and sister, Abbi Kohler.
“It shows me that I can do anything, and gives me the courage to try new things,” said Hannah.
Mock loves to swim, dance, help bake and help at the family duck barn. She said she has really enjoyed getting to work with Arrington Krull, her mentor.
Anna Seewald and Sarah Landrigan presented feeder calves during the showcase. Seewald is a member of the Beaver Dam 4-H club. She also enjoys riding horses at Magical Meadows. Her mentor was Madelyn Zimmerman. Zimmerman said her favorite part of the showcase is watching the participants overcome challenges to succeed in showing their animals.
Landrigan is a member of the Pierceton Hayseeds 4-H Club. She enjoys riding bikes, coloring and Sunday school class. Her mentor was Cora Ransbottom, a member of the Horse and Pony Club.
Railly Miller is a third-year participant in the Poss-ABILITIES Showcase. He presented in the rabbit category. Miller also participates in sport fishing and fire education projects. His mentor was Zachary Schultz, a member of The Great Outdoors.
Skylar Payton also presented a rabbit in the showcase. Her favorite memory of participating in the showcase was how friendly everyone is in the barn and how everyone is so helpful. Her mentor in the rabbit presentation was the Kline family. Kara Kline, a member of the Silver Lake Rambling Farms 4-H club, presented with Payton during the showcase.
“Poss-ABILITIES has shown me that anything is possible for anyone who is willing to try,” said Kline.
